Travel Guide to Singapore

One minute you can be channelling your inner monk in an ancient temple and the next marvelling at impressive modern architecture housing luxurious shopping.
Then it’s time to head for the world’s largest infinity pool, or maybe you want to hang out at a waterfall in an airport (seriously). We can’t possibly list all of the cool things to do in Singapore in one place, so we’ve selected a few of the highlights that you need to factor into the best trip to this incredible city.
Your wallet will come away considerably lighter but your bank of experience will be bursting when you visit Singapore.
It’s a city where there aren’t enough descriptive words to sum it up – whatever another city does, Singapore does it bigger, better, more beautiful. It’s just got impressiveness nailed.
Check out these Singapore suggestions:

Hunker on down with hawker food
Hawker centres are where you come to grab delicious bites to eat in cultural melting pots, quite literally. Food here is simply fabulous with fusions of Chinese, Malay and Indian tastes. Eating in a hawker centre is an authentic part of Singaporean life.
Put your smartphone away at Thian Hock Keng Temple
Yes, there’s no boasting of this one on Instagram, but oh boy is it worth it. Thian Hock Keng Temple AKA Tianfu is calling out for you to let go of modern tech anyway, and simply indulge in some pensive moments amongst dragons and phoenixes.
Do what’s expected at Gardens by the Bay
Check out any list of cool things to do in Singapore and you’ll see Gardens by the Bay putting in a dominant appearance - but with good reason. These iconic gardens, jostling up to the Marine Reservoir, do ‘cool’ like nowhere else.
From the domineering supertree structures to a waterfall plunging 114 foot, they’ve got the wow factor covered.

Hang out at the airport
Solve it all on the streets
In Singapore you’ll want to spend some time simply wending your way through impressive and eclectic architecture.
Channel your inner sleuth and have a seriously good time cracking cases and solving crimes in interactive and immersive outdoor experience. The streets just got even more fun.
Simply enter ‘Singapore’ into the search bar to reveal whether you’ll be catching The Ripper or donning your cap as a Crime Scene Investigator.

Marvel at the unusual at Haw Par Villa
The founder of Tiger Balm was obviously having fun when he created the eight bizarre acres at Haw Par Villa. Supposedly imparting Chinese traditional values, these slightly worn but fabulously quirky gardens are full of weird and wonderful dioramas and sculptures.
Get away from the intensity at Kampong Glam
Singapore is intensely wonderful, but intense it is. And sometimes you just need a little break. Head to the historic district of Kampong Glam and you’ll find a slower pace.
Take a dip and keep on going at Marina Bay Sands
If your bank account will forgive you, you should definitely indulge in dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant here or place your bets in the casino. However, the must-do at Marina Bay Sands is the SkyPark with the world’s biggest infinity pool. The views are something else.

Escape to Sentosa for more fun
The island of Sentosa, just off the south coast, is bursting with different tourist attractions from the high-adrenalin Universal Studios and Mega Adventure zip line to the more laid back SEA Aquarium and Sentosa Golf Club. Or simply enjoy the tropical vibes at the beach.
Discover the city’s green roots at Singapore Botanic Gardens
When you’re getting to know Singapore you soon discover that it is proud of being a green city. But this is nothing new. A visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Singapore Gardens will showcase that Singapore has been green-fingered for a seriously long time. If nothing else, you have to check out the 1000 different orchid species on show. Quite a feat when we can’t keep one lonely orchid on our windowsill happy.

There are so many more cool things to do in Singapore, from a nocturnal night safari to the National Gallery, and from impressive shopping at Orchard Road to the 1970s –like island of Pulau Ubin.
A chilled out afternoon in Merlion Park will grab your attention as much as following the 6 mile Southern Ridges trail.
Don’t underestimate how much Singapore has on offer, and don’t underestimate how much it will leave its mark on you - especially if you take part in a CluedUpp Detective Day!
