Thinking About Booking a CluedUpp Game?
Let’s say you’ve stumbled across one of our ads whilst scrolling through your timeline on Facebook or Instagram. “You’re a wizard, hurry!”, you’re intrigued. You see photos of people dressed in Witchcraft & Wizardry themed costumes. “This looks interesting”, you think to yourself. You tag the biggest Harry Potter fan you know and you’re ready. Time to book!
But how exactly does this mystery day work? Let us take you through...
Post-Purchase
So the moon is dark, you’ve assembled your coven of wanderous witches and conjured a ticket to your local Witchcraft & Wizardry detective day. Two weeks before your event you should receive a game briefing via messenger owl, this can take a little longer than anticipated so if the messenger owl technique fails, our fantastic team of talented house elves will be on hand to send said game briefing via e(nchanment)-mail to the email address you provided at checkout.
Pre-Game
Upon receiving your pre-game briefing, you’ll also have a small list of tasks to complete in preparation for your mystery solving day. You’ll need to download our CluedUpp GeoGames app from the app store on iOS or Google Play store on Android devices. This should ideally be done at home on wifi before your event.
On The Day
Finally, game day is here and you’re all psyched up to get your witch on! Now, this is where the magic really happens. Most importantly, you’re dressed in your most alluring magical attire (this isn’t mandatory but is something our players love doing).
The average length of our games is 2 and a half hours - both mobile data and GPS turned on for the duration of your adventure. It’s also a good idea to bring a power bank or battery pack as you’re bound to be taking lots of wonderful witchy snaps.
From 10am, your team leader will be able to press start and enter your super witty, fantastically magical team name and photo.

Photos should be uploaded to the relevant CluedUpp Facebook event page for your city in order to qualify for a prize.

Another great point to mention is that the app is really simple to use and includes easy-to-follow tutorials which are perfect for those less tech savvy players, meaning granny can come along for the ride too!
Playing The Game
And the fun begins! Virtual witnesses are hidden around the city and it's your job, as Wizarding Detective, to use the CluedUpp GeoGame app to locate and interrogate them in order to eliminate suspects.
There will be times where you'll need to solve some riddles and stay alert as there may be some surprises along the way...
Oh, we may have forgotten to mention you’ll be competing against the clock and hundreds of other teams in a race to solve the case. There’s nothing wrong with a little bit of healthy competition though, right?
The whole day is full of people buzzing around you and you’ll often see the same faces again and again as you visit different witness locations.
More fun comes with the final scores, seeing where you placed on the leaderboard and not to mention the “spontaneous” debriefing with your team over dinner or a cheeky drink.
