The Accessible Adventure Everyone Can Enjoy
Recently, Sarah, a powered wheelchair user and avid CluedUpper attended one of our events and had a great time. Here's what she had to say:
"Cluedupp events are for everyone. If you are thinking of it - do it!"
Cluedupp events are not only good fun but a great way to spend time together with friends and/or family. I have been to all but one of their events and look forward to the next one. I don't get out much and the consequences are high when I do because of serious health issues. However these events are one of the times worth the impact on my health to be a part of.
As a powered wheelchair user I can assure others that this does not preclude us from taking part. It can be a problem when locations don't have many drop kerbs to cross roads following the clues but this is the fault of the city concerned and it is always possible to reach key points, even if a bit slower. There is nothing Cluedupp can do about that, of course, and I mention only as a note for any readers using chairs - go for it!
One of the things that I most value about Cluedupp is their willingness to change the date of a booking with no charge, zero hassle and for any reason.
I have had cause to use that on several occasions because of medical issues and it was never a problem to change our booking to whenever the next option was. In my case there are 3 locations within reach and one time we postponed it twice without any issue.
There are various competition categories in addition to who is fastest so anyone can join in if desired. I have won Best Team Photo at two of the events! Some people get into the spirit with some great costumes but this is totally optional.
The puzzles and storyline are engaging but not hard. I will say, however, that there is a lot of walking so this should be taken into account if walking is difficult. The game can be paused at any time for as long as needed (ends at 5pm) so rest breaks can be easily accommodated. Shopmobility scooters can also be helpful if they are open on the day.
So, if you are considering it...do it!
